Pakistanis May Enjoy a Nine-Day Holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025!

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most anticipated celebrations in Pakistan, marking the joyous end of Ramadan. This year, there is exciting news for Pakistanis, as the possibility of a nine-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 has emerged. If approved, this extended break will allow families to celebrate together, travel, and unwind after a month of fasting.

Expected Moon Sighting Date and Eid Announcement

According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on March 30, making March 31 the likely date for Eid-ul-Fitr. Experts predict that the moon will be over 26 hours old by then, making it easily visible across most parts of Pakistan. However, the final confirmation will depend on the official moon sighting announcement by relevant authorities.

Potential Nine-Day Holiday Schedule

Typically, the government grants three public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr. However, this year, if the official holidays extend from March 29 (Saturday) to April 2 (Wednesday), and additional leave is granted on April 3 and 4 (Thursday and Friday), Pakistanis could enjoy a nine-day break when combined with the weekends.

Here’s what the possible holiday schedule could look like:

  • March 29 (Saturday) & March 30 (Sunday): Weekend
  • March 31 (Monday) – April 2 (Wednesday): Eid Holidays
  • April 3 (Thursday) & April 4 (Friday): Possible additional holidays
  • April 5 (Saturday) & April 6 (Sunday): Weekend

What This Means for Pakistanis

If the government approves this extended holiday period, many Pakistanis will get a rare chance to relax and spend quality time with their loved ones. Families living in different cities may take this opportunity to travel and reunite for Eid celebrations. Additionally, those looking for a vacation could plan trips to northern areas or other tourist destinations.

No Official Announcement Yet

While many are hopeful for this extended break, the final decision rests with the government. The official holiday schedule will be confirmed based on the government’s approval and the final moon sighting announcement. Until then, Pakistanis can look forward to a potential long and joyful Eid celebration!

Stay tuned for official updates, and start planning for a memorable Eid-ul-Fitr 2025!
