In a significant move that will undoubtedly excite millions of Muslims across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced a groundbreaking decision: GCC residents can now embark on the sacred journey of Umrah year-round.
Streamlined Access to the Holy Sites
The ministry has introduced several innovative measures to facilitate seamless access to the holy sites in Mecca and Medina:
- Nusuk Platform: Pilgrims can conveniently book comprehensive Umrah packages through the official digital gateway, Nusuk. This platform offers a one-stop solution for all pilgrimage needs, from visa applications to accommodation and transportation.
- Visa Options:
- Visa Centers: GCC residents can apply for traditional Umrah visas through accredited visa centers.
- Transit Visas: Travelers transiting through Saudi Arabia on Saudia Airlines or Flynas can now utilize transit visas to perform Umrah during their stopovers.
- Tourism Visas: Visitors can apply for a tourism visa via the electronic visa platform, which grants access to holy sites across the Kingdom.
A Safe and Organized Pilgrimage
The ministry has emphasized the importance of securing an Umrah permit through the Nusuk app before arriving at the Grand Mosque. This digital permit ensures a well-organized and secure pilgrimage experience for all visitors.
This historic decision marks a new era of accessibility to the holy sites for GCC residents. By simplifying the process and expanding the pilgrimage season, Saudi Arabia aims to provide a more fulfilling and spiritually enriching experience for millions of Muslims worldwide.
