Sindh’s Shocking Teacher Scandal: 1000+ Fake Employees Get Axed!

A recent report submitted to the Sindh provincial education secretary has exposed a shocking level of absenteeism among teachers in the province. Over a thousand teachers were found to be absent from duty, prompting the formation of a Scrutiny Committee to investigate the issue of ghost teachers.

Many Teachers on Extended Leave Abroad

Sources revealed that many of the absent teachers are currently on extended leave abroad, despite still being on the payroll. This raises serious concerns about the accountability and efficiency of the education system in Sindh.

Action Taken Against Absent Teachers

Following the report’s findings, the education secretary has taken decisive action. All district education officers (DEOs) have been instructed to immediately stop the salaries of these absent teachers, with official notifications issued. This is a significant step towards addressing the problem of ghost teachers and ensuring that public funds are being used effectively.

Previous Action Against Ghost Teachers

This is not the first time the Sindh education department has taken action against ghost teachers. In a previous crackdown, eight ghost teachers who had been residing abroad but were still receiving salaries were dismissed. Secretary Akbar Leghari emphasized the department’s commitment to identifying and eliminating ghost teachers, warning of strict action against those found guilty.

Ongoing Efforts to Address the Issue

The taluka education officers across the province are actively working to identify more ghost teachers. This ongoing effort is crucial to ensuring that the education system in Sindh is free from corruption and inefficiency.

Conclusion

The widespread absenteeism among teachers in Sindh is a serious problem that needs to be addressed urgently. The actions taken by the education department are a step in the right direction, but more needs to be done to ensure that public funds are being used effectively and that students are receiving the quality education they deserve.
