State Bank of Pakistan Announces Bank Holiday on March 3, 2025

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially declared Monday, March 3, 2025, as a ‘Bank Holiday’ across the country. This holiday coincides with the first day of Ramadan and has been designated for Zakat deduction, an essential aspect of the Islamic financial system.

What This Means for Customers

On this day, all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) will remain closed for public dealings. This means that customers will not be able to conduct in-person transactions at branches. However, the SBP has clarified that all banking employees must report to work as usual. The day will be treated as a normal working day for internal bank operations, excluding customer-facing services.

Digital Banking Services to Remain Operational

While physical branches will be closed to the public, customers can still access essential banking services through digital platforms. ATMs, mobile banking apps, and online banking portals will continue to function normally, allowing users to carry out transactions such as fund transfers, bill payments, and mobile top-ups without disruption.

Plan Your Banking Needs in Advance

Given the temporary closure of public-facing banking operations, customers are advised to plan their financial transactions in advance. If you need to withdraw cash, deposit checks, or carry out other essential in-person banking activities, make sure to do so before March 3.

Regular Banking Operations Resume on March 4

The banking sector will resume regular operations on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Customers can visit their respective bank branches for any pending transactions or inquiries.

For further details, you can contact your bank’s customer service or visit the official website of the State Bank of Pakistan. Stay informed and plan your financial activities accordingly!
