Sindh Government Enforces Strict Vehicle Fitness and Registration Rules

The Sindh government has recently announced a decisive crackdown on unfit and unregistered vehicles, signaling a major step toward road safety and regulatory enforcement. This decision, made in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that only roadworthy vehicles operate within the province.

Mandatory Fitness Certificates for All Vehicles

Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon revealed in a press conference that all vehicles, including motorcycles, must now have a valid fitness certificate. Heavy vehicles, which pose a significant risk when unfit, will be prioritized in the enforcement process. Owners of vehicles without proper certification will face strict penalties, and such vehicles will not be permitted on the roads. The government has provided a 30-day grace period for all vehicle owners to comply with this requirement.

Water Tanker Regulation via Barcode System

To regulate water tankers, the Water Board has introduced a barcode system that ensures only fitness-approved vehicles operate from authorized hydrants. This initiative aims to enhance safety and streamline operations within the water supply sector, preventing substandard vehicles from endangering public safety.

Fitness Certificates for Out-of-Province Vehicles

A significant shift in policy dictates that vehicles entering Sindh from other provinces must obtain a fitness certificate from Sindh authorities. Certificates issued by Punjab, Balochistan, or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not be recognized, reinforcing the province’s commitment to independently verifying vehicle safety standards.

Showroom Restrictions on Unregistered Vehicles

Showroom owners have been strictly instructed to ensure that no vehicle leaves their premises without registration. This measure seeks to curb illegal and unregulated vehicle sales, ensuring that every new vehicle on the road is properly documented. Additionally, individuals purchasing multiple vehicles for investment must transport them via trailers or car carriers rather than driving them individually.

A Step Towards Safer Roads

The Sindh government’s initiative is a commendable move toward enhancing road safety and regulatory compliance. By enforcing stringent fitness and registration measures, authorities aim to reduce accidents, curb illegal vehicle activity, and ensure a more organized traffic system. Vehicle owners are urged to comply with the new regulations within the given grace period to avoid penalties and contribute to a safer, more efficient transportation network in Sindh.
